JOHANSEN SOUND THERAPY TRAINING COURSES

Training courses are currently held once a year in the UK. Dr. Kjeld Johansen PhD runs a four day training course covering theory, assessment and implementation of the Johansen Sound Therapy programme.

Topics covered during the course include:

• The effect of sensory deprivation on learning difficulties
• Auditory sensation and perception, auditory acuity, auditory laterality
• General Laterality
• The use of audiometry and dichotic listening as diagnostic tools
• Assessment
• Implementation of the Johansen Sound Therapy programme with different client groups in various settings
• Practical information on equipment and tapes

Training groups are deliberately kept small (maximum 20) in order to allow individual training in the use of audiometers and dichotic listening, as well as allowing considerable time for discussion.

These training courses are open to individuals with a relevant professional training e.g. speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, teaching, psychology, optometry, nursing etc. Individuals with considerable experience of working in an educational or therapy setting with children experiencing developmental difficulties may also be considered for training.

The next Training Course will take place from Tuesday November 6th to Friday November 9th 2007.

JOHANSEN SOUND THERAPY UPDATE COURSES

(1) FOR ALL JOHANSEN SOUND THERAPISTS
Update Weekends, with Dr Kjeld Johansen are currently held near Edinburgh, on an annual basis. New research and programme developments are discussed and much time is also spent discussing individual cases that are presented by participants.

This is also an excellent opportunity for Johansen Sound Therapists from across the country and further afield to meet and compare notes.

The next Update Weekend is being held on Saturday October 6th and Sunday October 7th 2007.

(2) FOR SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPISTS
A Update Day for Speech and Language Therapists trained in Johansen Sound Therapy and other Sound Therapies is held each year. This has proved to be of great value both as a support group and as an opportunity to discuss specific cases and the benefits of Sound Therapy as a therapy tool.

The next Update Day for Speech and Language Therapists is being held near Edinburgh on Friday 1st June 2007.

WORKING WITH LISTENING AND AUDITORY PROCESSING DIFFICULTIES COURSES

These are two day courses, run by Speech and Language Therapists Diana Crewdson and Camilla Leslie, for professionals working with children with listening problems at school or at home. They focus on assessment and management of these difficulties in the classroom, in one-to-one settings and at home. See flyer and application form below.
